This is a very simple dinner roll recipe that everyone can try at home!

I love how soft and moist these buns are. Using tangzhong in the recipe is incredibly makes your bread very soft and light. Have you heard of tangzhong?

Tangzhong is basically a paste of flour and water after boiling over medium low heat.

Look how beautiful they are 🙂
this is after baked, so so attempting 💕

Instructions

  1. 1/ In a small pot, whisk together milk, water and flour to make tangzhong. Heat over medium low heat and whisk constantly until it's thick like a paste. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  2. 2/ In a medium bowl, add warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 20 minutes.
  3. 3/ After 20 minutes, crack an egg into the yeast bowl, along with sugar and salt. Whisk to combine.
  4. 4/ I use a mixer to make the dough and you can also use your hands if you don't have the mixer. Add the yeast mixture, milk powder and tangzhong.
  5. 5/ Knead the dough until it forms into a dough, add butter and knead until smooth.
  6. 6/ Form the dough and put into a large bowl, cover and let it rest for 80-90 minutes.
  7. 7/ Brush a baking pan with butter, every corner!
  8. 8/ Divide the dough into 20 balls, 30g each and plus 1-53g ball ( extra haha). Form them into balls and but 20 balls into the prepared pan. The extra ball you can put on another small sheet pan.
  9. 9/ Cover all the balls and proof for 25-30 minutes.
  10. 10/ Brush all the buns with egg milk mixture and bake at 180C for 20-25 minutes.
  11. 11/ Remove from the oven and brush with generous amount of butter.
  12. 12/ Let it cool a little bit and enjoy!
